ESTP Publication Award 2003

The ESTP Award 2003 including 1,000 EUR* is given in equal parts to

Dr. Juliette Lilbert
and
Dr. Daniel Robert Roth

Dr. Lilbert is awarded for her publication entitled "Main vascular changes seen in the saline controls of continuous infusion studies in the Cynomolgus monkey over an eight-year period." (1). In a pattern way and with accuracy she has elaborated the spectrum of pathological background lesions, which may occur in these sophisticated experiments. Thereby she has prepared the basis for proper interpretation of this kind of studies. She has also contributed to standardization in diagnostic nomenclature by suggesting diagnostic terms for the description of local effects at the injection sites.

Dr. Roth is awarded for his publication entitled "Effects of epithelial growth factor receptor (EGFR) kinase inhibitors on genetically reconstituted mouse mammary glands" (2). This work shows impressively the important contributions of toxicologic pathology in research support. Dr. Roth presents important aspects of the efficacy of an oncology compound class in a new transgenic organ model in vivo. Especially the correlation of morphology with the results derived from cell proliferation assessment using Laser Scanning Cytometry is of major interest for experimental pathology. This work is a synopsis of Dr. Roth's intensive research activities in the field of oncology. A synopsis of these activities was given to the toxicological pathology community during the ESTP Seminar Series "Classical examples of Toxicological Pathology IX", Veterinary School, Hannover.
